DUBAI GETS A HUGE NOD

The 3rd tournament of the year was upon us and a decent draw was released. The story of the tournament has to do with the influx of tour debutantes and the sporadic falling of the seeds, the biggest one being the number one seed, ANGUS.

This new phenomenon of ‘falling seeds’ is a good look for our tour and is indicative of the level of tennis any one player has to display to win his first match. We hope that this is a start to Bartley fulfilling his full potential on tour, settling in as one of the big guns in the game with his powerful array of shots. He dispatched  the number 4 and 2 seeds en route to his first final on tour.

Sheldon is also settling in and trying to play within himself. His mentality is one to behold. He won his first match over Ewan and went unto play Bartley. Sheldon found the going tough in the initial stages of the match but as soon as the nerves went it was a match to behold with all it’s ups and downs and drama as the sun delayed  the tips of its rays to facilitate what was to be the end of the match.

We want to welcome three tour debutantes Crumbie, Josephs and Alando. Crumbie had a more than emphatic debut dispatching the world number one en route to his first final. It was an aggressive, keenly contested match against Angus who raced out to a 4-0 lead but couldn’t quite grab the first set from the stubborn Crumbie. Angus game was both troubled by the wind but both opponents was up against it. It was the first time that Angus have been slayed thus ending his 21 match win streak. This was the most disgruntled we’ve seen Angus to be, even tossing his racquet all the way over the seating area.

We conceded that there are developing rivalries on tour which is good. We want to welcome all the debutantes and congratulate all the players who achieved their first win on tour.
